  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  What began as a tough, back-and-forth game — turned into a BLOWOUT yesterday as the WMS girls basketball team demolished Gunston at home:  41 to 23.  The Wolves went into half-time clinging to a 2-point lead, but they absolutely caught fire in the second — scoring 21 points while holding the Hornets to just five.  It was one of the best games all-around games of the season.  Way to go, basketball wolves!! [clap] The next home game is scheduled for next THURSDAY against Kenmore.  So let’s pack the stands, root them on to victory, and be a part of the PRIDE!!
    .
And now we go from sports to music.  Congratulations to Mr. Woodson and the WMS Band for an incredible Winter Concert last night in the school auditorium.  180 Williamsburg students took part in the hour-long show — and they absolutely rocked the house!  The show was attended by hundreds of students, family members and guests — who gave the performers a well-deserved standing ovation.  Way to go, musical wolves!! [clap]

  • And there’s even more music in store next week! The WMS “Winter Orchestra and Chorus Concert” is scheduled for MONDAY evening at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Come see some of the best and most talented musicians in Arlington as they perform the songs of the season. And the show is absolutely FREE — so come on down.  See Ms. McTavish or Mr. Lunt for more information.
    .
  • Look out world — here we come!  The Future Business Leaders of America — or FBLA — will be meeting TODAY during WOLF TIME in room 136.  This project-based club focuses on Community Service, Leadership, and preparing for a successful career in business. See Mrs. Kontos or Mrs. Briones for more information —  and to get your agenda signed.
    .
  • Calling all theater-lovers! It’s time to choose the WMS Spring Musical! Interested actors, singers, and dancers are invited to the “selection” meeting next MONDAY during ASP 1 in the auditorium.  See Mr. Brown with any questions.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
    .
  •  And now, it’s time for our weekly update on the WMS PTA’s “No Frills Fundraiser!”  As we approach the end of our fundraiser, we’re now within sight of the 40-thousand dollar goal.  So tell your friends and parents to help us make it over the finish line.  Just go to the “WMS PTA” link on the WMS homepage, then select “No Frills Fundraiser” to make a donation.  Your support will go a long way to helping our school.
    .
And as a reward for all your support so far, we’ve got a new Donut Hero!  This week’s hero is actually a group prize, awarded to the TA whose families made the most contributions combined.  And the winner is:  Ms. Field’s 6th grade TA!! Congratulations, the PTA will schedule your party soon.  Thanks to everyone who participated, and remember to keep the donations coming!
    .
  • Up next, let’s make some beautiful music together!  WOLF-TV reporters Keirsten B., Lynelle C., and Natalie S. introduce us to an extraordinary Williamsburg student — who lives a “melodious” life.

    .

  • The WMS PTA hosted the annual “Book Fair Fundraiser” in the Williamsburg library earlier this year, and it was an absolute book bonanza.  WOLF-TV reporters Natalie S. and Cameron M. “booked it” to the scene — to bring us this special report.
