- Today we will be following the A-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 1, 3, 5, and 7 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is an A-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
. - The Gender Sexuality Alliance — a.k.a. the GSA — will be meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 106. Everyone is welcome! See Ms. Wielechowski for more information.
. - Calling all scientists, technicians, engineers, and mathematicians!! The Virginia Junior Academy of Science — a statewide “STEM” competition — is gearing up for 2023! 7th and 8th graders who would like to participate are invited to a VJAS informational meeting this TUESDAY during your Wolf Time in room 115. See Ms. Warden with any questions.
. - Calling all MUNNERS!! The Model UN Club will be meeting on TUESDAY in room C105 until only 3pm this week — so please plan accordingly. Permission slips for the Winter Conferences are due that day, so make sure to have them ready at the meeting. Choices for delegate assignments will also be available. See Mr. McDermott with any questions.
. - Did you miss Picture Day last month, or did your picture not turn out so well? Then you’re in luck — because “Picture Make-Up Day” is this Wednesday in the Auxiliary Gym. If it’s your first school picture, just go on down. But if it’s a retake, then you must bring your unwanted picture packet with you to exchange. And remember — if you don’t take a picture, then you WON’T be included in the WMS yearbook. See Mr. Koutsouftikis with any questions. And say cheese!
. - Give a “helping hand” to those in need! The WMS Helping Hands Club is hosting a holiday gift drive — from now until Wednesday — benefiting Virginia Hospital Center Pediatrics. Students and staff may leave UNWRAPPED and UNOPENED gifts in the collection bin in the main lobby. THANK YOU for your support and generosity!
. - Who wants cupcakes?! Ms. McFerran’s and Ms. Brown’s 6th grade TAs will be selling cupcakes this THURSDAY and FRIDAY during all grade-level lunches. Cupcakes are just 1-dollar each, and all money raised will go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. They’ll also be raising awareness about Parkinson’s by completing the “Will Run for Cupcakes” 5K race. Thanks for your support, wolves, and enjoy your cupcakes!!
. - Calling all athletes! The WMS wrestling and boys basketball seasons are starting soon. Interested players must turn-in your physicals by December 16th. Wrestling practices begin on January 3rd. There are NO TRYOUTS for wrestling, and EVERYONE is welcome to join! But there are tryouts for boys basketball, which are also scheduled to begin on January 3rd. See Ms. Hogwood with any questions about wrestling or boys basketball.
. - Calling all actors, singers and dancers! The WMS Spring Musical — Shrek, Jr. — is coming soon! Auditions are scheduled for January 9th and 10th after school in the Auditorium. Interested performers should prepare a short monologue and song for the audition. For more information, just scan the QR code located by the theater. The show also needs a DANCE CAPTAIN to teach the choreography to the cast. See Ms. Mac if you’d like to be considered. Break a leg, everyone!!
. - And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!! It’s SPIRIT WEEK here at WMS! Thanks to everyone who got into the spirit for “Switch It Up Day” — students dressing like teachers, and teachers dressing like students. You’ve got spirit, yes you do!!
.
And here’s the rundown for the rest of the week: Tuesday is Character Day — from your favorite book or movie. Wednesday is Sports Day — support your favorite team. Then comes Throwback Thursday — it’s a blast from the past. And finally, Friday is everyone’s favorite holiday tradition — Ugly Sweater Day! Get into the school spirit for Spirit Week — and be a part of the Wolf Pack Pride!!
. - Wolf Pack Pride continues with the WMS Boys soccer team — who kept their undefeated season alive by defeating Thomas Jefferson last week: 3 to 0. 8th graders Hayden H., Charlie L., and Quinn J. each scored a goal; while Dylan P., Will N., and Ian H. each got an assist. Props to the entire team for contributing to the win, and dominating from start to finish. Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]
. - Wolf Pack Pride wraps-up with Wolfbots Robotics. At a recent scrimmage in Fairfax County, our 6th and 7th grade teams tied for 2nd, and the 8th grade team placed 3rd. The 8th graders also won the “Inspire Award” — given to the team that best exemplified the VEX robotics program. Way to go, Wolfbots!! [clap]
