  • Hello, Williamsburg!  It’s me, Ms. Schaefer, and I’ve got some Wolf Pack news for you!!  The WMS Kindness Club’s “Pennies for Puerto Rico” fundraiser is now CLOSED, but what an incredible competition it was between our 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Even our TEACHERS were throwing down — with special shout-outs to Mr. McDermott, Ms. Scruggs, and both the PE and Tech Ed departments, who all contributed so generously.

So let’s get to it:  which grade won bragging rights as the “dopest do-gooders” in school?  Drum roll, please!  Congratulations to… the SIXTH GRADE!!  Your jug contained the LEAST negative points.  But don’t feel bad, 7th and 8th graders, because everybody wins when it comes to Pennies for Puerto Rico.  Our school raised a combined 519-dollars to help the victims of Hurricane Maria, and that money will go a long way to helping our fellow citizens rebuild.  Outstanding job, everyone, and way to go, fundraising wolves!! [clap]

  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS sports program continues to DOMINATE between the lines this year.  The Girls basketball team was UNCONSCIOUS during their first home game of the season yesterday — demolishing Jefferson Middle School, 29 to 16.  The players deployed a tight defense and balanced offense — and the competition had no answer.  Way to go, baller wolves!! [clap]

  • And the Boys Soccer team wrapped-up its season in grand fashion yesterday, with a thrilling come-from-behind victory on the road against Jefferson — 4 to 3.  And boy, was there drama.  Down 3 to 1 at the half, the Wolves came out “kicking” in the second.  Nate W. — a.k.a the “Nate Dog” — scored THREE unanswered goals in the 2nd half, while the defense completely shut Jefferson down.  But wait — there’s more!   With the win, Williamsburg was declared Arlington County Co-Champion, tying Swanson with SIX wins on the year.  Congratulations for a tremendous season.  Way to go, Co-Champion soccer wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • One more piece of pride for you:  the 8th grade WOLFBOTS Robotics Team is putting their technology to the test this weekend — at the VIRGINIA STATE LEGO robotics championship at James Madison University. Go wild, Wolfbots!! And Good Luck!!
    .
  • Take down, reversal, PIN!  The WMS Wrestling team is gearing-up for a new season.  Interested athletes are invited to an informational meeting next MONDAY during ASP 1 in the Library.  Learn all about the team, practice, and upcoming matches.  Remember that you must have a physical on file to participate.  See Coach Hicks with any questions.
    .
  • Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown tutors are back! Come to Room WW12 next TUESDAY during ASP II and get extra help with grammar, vocab, and everything you need to succeed. Just sign up with your Spanish teacher to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!

  • Did you miss Picture Day last month — or did your picture not turn out so well?  Then you’re in luck — because “Picture Make-Up Day” is next TUESDAY in the Auditorium during TA and all grade-level PE classes. Here’s what to do:  if you haven’t taken a picture yet this year, then print a “Retake Form” from the WMS website and bring it with you.  OR if you’d like a NEW picture, then you must bring your unwanted picture packet with you to exchange.  And remember — if you don’t take a picture, then you WON’T be included in the WMS yearbook. See Ms. Argenal in the main office with any questions.  Say cheese!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a buss pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
