  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Boys Soccer Team pushed their record to 2 and 0 with a convincing 7 to 3 win over Kenmore on Monday.  8th grader Nate W. was the leader of the pack, scoring his second hat-trick in 2 games — that’s right:  2 games, SIX goals for the “Nate-Dog.”  Impressive stuff!  Also scoring were Josh P., Tristan K., Din H., and Griffey L.  What a great all-around game.  Way to go, soccer wolves!!  [clap].
    .
  • Wolf Pack Pride continues with a big shout to one of our teachers:  Ms. Barnett — along with a team of core content teachers — hosted dozens of parents and community members yesterday at the “Gifted Services Parent Information Night” in the WMS Library.  The presentation absolutely DAZZLED the audience, and really highlighted all of the amazing resources and opportunities here at Williamsburg.  Way to go, Ms. Barnett!! [clap]
    .
  • There will be a rehearsal for the WMS Dance Team TODAY during ASP 1 in room 116.  So put on your dancing shoes and let’s boogie!  See Ms. Smalfelt with any questions.
    .
  • Grab your Pom-Poms and show me what you’ve got!  The WMS Cheerleading Team is holding an informational meeting for interested students — TODAY during ASP 1 in the Auxiliary Gym.  Come meet the coach, ask questions about the upcoming season, and get the scoop on tryouts. You must have a physical on file to participate.  See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
    .
  • Attention 8th graders! Yorktown High School’s award-winning “Winter Colorguard” is seeking new members for the upcoming season. Come to the open house to learn more — TONIGHT at Yorktown from 6 to 8 p.m. in room 174. Contact Mr. Bersh at YHS for more information, or go to yorktownband.org.  And because it’s such a cool video… let’s see the Colorguard one more time!
  • Did You Know that Ms.Carlson’s Wolftime has been working on civic action? One issue students care about is the environment. As you’re walking through the halls this month, be sure to take a look at the posters and reminders throughout the school about global warming, species endangerment, and recycling.  Saving the planet starts with us!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a buss pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
    .
  • How many pairs of ratty old sneakers do you have lying around the house? Well, don’t throw them away — because they could help to SAVE THE WORLD!!  You heard right:  the WMS Earth Club is collecting tennis shoes for a recycling drive — to keep them out of landfills and to protect our environment.  Just drop off your unwanted sneakers in one of the bins next to the cafeteria or the main entrance. Shoes will be collected through next FRIDAY.  For more information — check out this VIDEO!!
  • And finally today, it’s time for an update on the WMS PTA’s “No Frills Fundraiser.”  This year, the PTA is trying to raise 40-THOUSAND dollars in 4 just weeks. And as of now, they’re over a third of the way to their goal — with more than 13-THOUSAND dollars in the bank!  All money raised will help to support our school and shared community. And here’s the best part: if your parents donate to the fundraiser, then YOU are automatically entered in the weekly DONUT HERO drawing — and could be the winner of a free Duck Donuts breakfast for your entire TA!!
    .
  • So without further ado, here is this week’s Donut Hero! And the winner is: OLIVIA SHEA and Ms. Field’s entire TA!! Congratulations, the PTA will schedule your party soon. And if YOU want to be the next Donut Hero, tell your parents to go to the “WMS PTA” link on the WMS homepage, then select “No Frills Fundraiser” to make a donation. Thanks, wolves!!
