  • We begin today with an important “technology tip” from Ms. Solomon!  All students and staff MUST update their iPads with the new iOS TODAY — once again TODAY — it’s your last chance.  Any iPads that have NOT been updated will need to be WIPED, so don’t delay!
    .
  • And about that iPad “glitch” — some iPads may still be malfunctioning following the iOS update.  But here’s some good news:  Ms. Solomon’s got the solution!  If you are having any problems with your tablet, be sure to submit a “Student Tech. Help Request” form.  The link can be found on the WMS homepage — and Ms. Solomon will contact you shortly to schedule the repair.
    .
  • It’s better to GIVE than to RECEIVE! The WMS Kindness Club is partnering with the Arlington Police Department for the “Fill the Cruiser – Holiday Toy Drive.” Students and staff are encouraged to bring in NEW and UNWRAPPED gifts between now and December 14th. Donations can be dropped off in the grade-level bins in the library — and everything that’s collected will be given to Arlington County children in need this holiday season.
    .
And to make things even more interesting — there will be a little competition between grade-levels.  Every TA in the grade that donates the MOST TOYS will be entered into a raffle to receive a special token of gratitude. So PLEASE, bring in a gift — or three — and help to make a HUGE difference for the children of Arlington!  See Ms. Schaefer, Ms. Zeller or Mr. Johnson with any questions. Spread kindness where you may, and donate to the Toy Drive TODAY!!
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!!  The WMS girls Soccer Team defeated DOMINATED on the home field yesterday, shutting out Kenmore Middle School — 7 to nothing. Numerous players contributed to the win:  8th grader Ana G., and 7th graders Ellie E. and Sarah F. scored TWO goals each, and 8th grader Moira F. chipped in one.
    .
And of course, the entire defense was SMOTHERING, led by 8th grade goalie Sophie D. with the shutout.  Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]  The Wolves return to action next Tuesday with a home game against Swanson.
    .
  • Attention 8th graders!  Representatives from Arlington Tech will be visiting Williamsburg TODAY during lunch. They’ll be answering questions and helping interested students with their applications.  It’s never too soon to start planning for your future!  See Ms. Boyers for more information.
    .
  • Who wants Pizza? The Model UN Club will be hosting a Pizza — and cookie — fundraiser this FRIDAY after school, located in the Main Lobby and by the cafeteria.  It’s just 2-dollars a plate, and all money raised will go to support the upcoming WOLFMUN conference and other MUNner activities.  Come hungry!
    .
  • Did you miss Picture Day last month — or did your picture not turn out so well? Then you’re in luck — because “Picture Make-Up Day” is next TUESDAY in the Auditorium from 8 to 11 a.m. Here’s what to do: if you haven’t taken a picture yet this year, all you have to do is show up. OR if you’d like a NEW picture, then you must bring your unwanted picture packet with you to exchange. And remember — if you don’t take a picture, then you WON’T be included in the WMS yearbook. See Ms. Argenal in the main office with any questions. Say cheese!
    .
  • Get ready for a BOOK BONANZA! The Academic Books Fair is coming to WMS — starting NEXT WEEK. Check out what’s in store!!
  • Calling all actors, singers, and technicians! Auditions for the WMS Spring Musical — Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland, Jr.” — will take place in the auditorium on THURSDAY, December 13th during ASP 1 and 2; and again on MONDAY, December 17th during ASP 1 only. Interested performers should prepare three things — the song “Happy Birthday”, a short nursery rhyme, and another song of YOUR CHOICE that highlights YOUR VOICE. See Mr. Brown with any questions. Break a leg!
    .
  • And finally today, Middle School is like a stepping stone to bigger and better things — high school, college, and many other opportunities in the future.  But student-reporter Laila H. says — the future in NOW.  Just take a look at how middle schoolers are already moving on to a bigger and better things.
