  • Brace yourselves, wolves, because today is REPORT CARD DAY!  That’s right, teachers will be distributing reports cards during TA this morning.  Be sure to take them home and show your parents — and bring back the signed receipt next week.  You’ll also be receiving the PTA Student Directory today.  It’s a great resource for staying plugged-in to our community.
    .
  • And hundreds of WMS students will be getting another handout this morning — OVERDUE BOOK NOTICES!  Did you know that there are more than 7-HUNDRED overdue library books right now?  And the librarians want them back!! So check your backpacks, your lockers, and your bookcase at  home — and RETURN YOUR LIBRARY BOOKS!
    .
  • The Best Buddies Club will be meeting TODAY during WOLF TIME in the cafeteria. But remember — you MUST have a pass from Ms. Rogers in order to attend.  Participants will be making friends, and making a difference with some amazing kids. Thanks, Buddy!!
    .
  • The WMS Debate Team will be holding an important practice TODAY during ASP 1 in room 1A6. Participants will be preparing for the upcoming tournament, so don’t miss it! Debaters may also go to Ms. Jones for additional help with their cases during 7th grade lunch.
    .
  • Who wants pizza?? The Model UN Club will be selling pizza and cookies TODAY — right after school by the cafeteria and in the main lobby.  It’s just 2-dollars, and all money raised will go to support the upcoming WOLFMUN conference and other Model UN activities.  Come hungry!
    .
  • And speaking of WOLFMUN — Williamsburg will be hosting its FIRST EVER Model UN Conference this Saturday morning.  Participants and volunteers are reminded to get here EARLY tomorrow to set up — and to prepare for a wild day of discussion and debate.  Good luck, MUNner wolves!!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a buss pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
    .
  • Did you know that burning fossil fuels is a major contributor to global warming — which could potentially lead to an environmental disaster? Ms. Carlson’s “Wolf Time Class” is seeking to raise awareness about this and many other threats to our shared environment. So as you’re walking through the halls this month, be sure to take a look at the posters and reminders about global warming, species endangerment, and recycling. Don’t be mean — keep our planet happy and clean!
    .
  • How many pairs of ratty old sneakers do you have lying around the house? Well, don’t throw them away — because they could help to SAVE THE WORLD!! You heard right: the WMS Earth Club is collecting tennis shoes for a recycling drive — to keep them out of landfills and to protect our environment. . Just drop off your unwanted sneakers in one of the bins next to the cafeteria or the main entrance. Shoe collection has been extended until next MONDAY.  So do what you do, and reuse a shoe!!
    .
  • And now for some WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Boys Soccer Team “rolled” through Gunston yesterday — winning 3 to 0 and remaining perfect on the season.  Three different playing chipped-in with goals — Griffin L., Phillip B., and, of course, the “Nate-Dog” — Nate W. — who’s scored in every game this year.  Great all around game by everyone.  Way to go, soccer wolves!! [clap]
    .
  • The Pennies for Puerto Rico Fundraiser is in full swing — sponsored by the WMS Kindness Club!  This month, your donations can help the victims of Hurricane Maria.  And to make it a little more interesting, each grade level will compete to see who can collect — not the most money — but the most “positive points.” Here’s how it works:  Each penny in your grade level jug is worth a “positive point” — OR you can add a “negative point” to other grades by putting silver coins — or dollar bills — into their grade level bucket.
    .
  • But no matter which grade gets the most points, Puerto Rico still wins!  So break out your piggy bank and let’s see who can “make the most change” for Puerto Rico!  See Ms. Schaefer, Mr. Johnson, or Ms. Zeller with any questions.
    .
  • And now for our weekly update on the WMS PTA’s “No Frills Fundraiser!”  We’re over halfway to our goal with more than 22-THOUSAND dollars raised so far.  All money raised will help to support our school and shared community. And here’s the best part: if your parents donate to the fundraiser, then YOU are automatically entered in the weekly DONUT HERO drawing — and could be the winner of a free Duck Donuts breakfast for your entire TA!!
    .
  • So without further ado, here is this week’s Donut Hero! And the winner is: SOPHIE DAVIS and Ms. Colihan’s entire TA!! Congratulations, the PTA will schedule your party soon. And if YOU want to be the next Donut Hero, tell your parents to go to the “WMS PTA” link on the WMS homepage, then select “No Frills Fundraiser” to make a donation. Thanks, wolves!!
    .
  • And finally this morning, sports isn’t just about “fun and games.”  In fact, the sporting world is often home to heated debates — and controversy.  Stay tuned as WOLF-TV reporters Christopher, Ryan, and Ryan kick-off:  “FOR CRYAN’ OUT LOUD” — where they’ll be “tackling” some of the biggest issues in sports.
