We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE! The WMS Tennis Team “paired up” for the “Stockard Championship Doubles Tournament at Bluemont” yesterday — and it was a match to remember. Partners Drew W. and Dominic S. — aka The Double D’s — sailed to victory, claiming the tournament title without dropping a single set! And the dynamic duo of Jacklynka S. and Sujee R. also brought their ‘A’ game — making it all the way to the semifinals. It was a great job by all of our competitors. Way to go, tennis wolves!! [clap] The tennis team is reminded that the last practice of the season will be MONDAY after school for the whole team, for the final tune-up before the singles tournament on Tuesday.

As we continue our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students in the lunchroom today will be treated to a mix of trendy contemporary music from the Latina community. You’ll probably recognize some of these songs — as many are cross-over hits and chart-toppers from the past few years. Enjoy the fiesta, and remember — Hispanic Heritage is American Heritage!!

The Best Buddies Club will have its first meeting TODAY during WOLF TIME in room 108. This inspirational club is your chance to really make a difference in our school — and with our amazing kids. Let’s DANCE!! The WMS dance team is recruiting performers for the new year. Participants will perform a range of dancing styles to the best beats around, and will even get to choreograph some of the dance routines themselves. Grab you frisbee and let it fly! Girls Ultimate Frisbee begins on MONDAY after school. All grade levels are welcome — no experience needed! Just see Mr. Smo with any questions, and come ready to play!

Need help with Spanish? The Yorktown tutors are back! Come to Room WW11 during ASP II on TUESDAY and get extra help with grammar and vocab — and everything you need to succeed. Just sign up with your Spanish teacher to attend, or see Senora Stewart with any questions. Hasta pronto!

Hey 7th grade! Are you ready to party?! The FALL CARNIVAL DANCE will be rocking-out next TUESDAY during ASP 1 and 2 in the cafeteria! There will be a DJ, photo booth, snow cone machine, popcorn, and a even a raffle with awesome prizes! So come on out a BE A PART OF THE PRIDE!

Dribble, pass, SHOOT! Tryouts for the WMS Boys soccer team will be “kicking-off” next week. Here’s the breakdown: 6th graders next THURSDAY, then 7th graders on Monday the 23rd, and 8th graders on Tuesday the 24th — all during ASP 1 and 2 on Field number 2. You must have a physical on file to participate. Interested athletes should sign-up on the activity board by the cafeteria, or see Mr. Witte with any questions.

Calling all dancers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and visual artists! Put your creative genius to the test in the annual “PTA Reflections” contest. This year’s theme is: “Within Reach.” Just get a submission form and turn-in your entry to the “Reflections” box in the library by October 20th.

How would you like to be featured in a special section of the yearbook this year? From now until the end of October, the WMS yearbook is accepting pictures for both its “Summer Vacation” and “Now & Then” sections of its annual publication.
