  • Today is “Mix It Up Day” in the cafeteria! This is an opportunity for students to get out of their “comfort zone”, cross social lines, and interact with new people. Today’s activity will help to promote tolerance and understanding in our school — because no matter where you’re from or what you look like, we’re all part of the same community. And now, once again, here’s a video about what’s in store!
  • Due to the Mix It Up Day activity at lunch, all TAB meetings are CANCELLED today.  Again, today’s TAB meetings are being rescheduled for NEXT TUESDAY during lunch.  See Ms. Lord in the library with any questions.

  • Attention 8th graders! This week, ALL 8th graders will be visiting the Arlington Career Center. These tours are NOT just for students who plan to apply to Arlington Tech. Many of you will take courses at the Career Center while in high school, and this is your chance to see everything it has to offer. Permission slips MUST be turned-in ASAP — or you WILL get a call home!! See Ms. Boyers in the main office with any questions.
    .
  • She shoots, she SCORES!! Girls Soccer tryouts continue this week — with 7th graders TODAY, and 8th graders on THURSDAY — both from 2:50 to 4 on the turf field. Athletes MUST have a physical on file to participate. See Mr. Girard with any questions.

  • Attention 6th and 7th graders — It’s time to GET DOWN and BOOOOOOOO-gie!   Just in time for Halloween, the WMS Spook-tacular Skeleton Stomp is coming at you — courtesy of the WMS PTA.  The 7th grade party is scheduled for TOMORROW; and the 6th grade party is one week later, next TUESDAY, October 30th — both during ASP 1 and 2 in the cafeteria — so you can still take the late bus home. There will be food, a DJ and dancing, games, raffles, prizes and more. And please — despite the Halloween theme — NO COSTUMES.

  • Put your creative genius to the test! The annual PTA Reflections Contest is now accepting submissions from all grade-level students. This year’s theme is: “Heroes Around Me.” Projects can include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, or Visual Arts. Submission forms can be found in the WMS Library, and projects must be received by this THURSDAY. Now go create something awesome!!
    .
  • The WMS Kindness Club’s “Hurricane Relief Fundraiser” is going strong! All cash and check donations can be left in the donation boxes in each grade level holding area before TA. All money raised will go to relief organizations providing essential help and services to the victims of Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael.  And remember — whichever grade raises the most will be eligible for a TA drawing. Do your part for Hurricane Relief — because every penny counts.

  • Want to make new friends, play some smooth music, and have a swingin’ time?! Then join the WMS Jazz Band Club! Meetings — also known as “Jam Sessions” — begin November 1st, and will continue every THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 225. All instruments are welcome — including guitar and bass players. Just sign-up on the activity board by the cafeteria, or go to the Jazz Club page on the WMS website for more information and to contact the band leader, Mr. Wilkin.

  • And finally today — Tell your parents! Arena-style conferences are THIS WEEK — Thursday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Friday from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. No appointment is necessary, just come on in and have a chat. What could be better — your parents and teachers, alone in a room, talking about YOU.  Hoorah for Parent-Teacher Conferences!!
