  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS boys basketball team “hits the road” today with a tough match-up against Swanson Middle School at 3:15.  The Wolves are looking to continue their hot start to the season, so let’s root them on to victory and Be a Part of the Pride!  Go get ’em, baller wolves!! [clap]

  • Attention 6th and 7th graders! Believe it or not, but it’s already time to sign-up for next year’s classes! Course Request Forms — the CRFs — must be turned-in to your counselor by next FRIDAY at the latest. If you miss the deadline, you could get stuck with a class that you don’t really want. So stop procrastinating and complete your CRF! See you grade-level counselor with any questions.

  • And there’s also some incredible classes at Yorktown for our outgoing 8th graders to consider.  Counselors from YHS were here yesterday to discuss your options.  But if you still have any questions, but sure to meet with your grade-level counselor ASAP — or you might miss out on your first choice.  CRFs must be completed and returned by _____________.

  • And now for a Technology Tip from Ms. Solomon:  The latest iPad update has arrived!  APS is asking all students to upgrade their iPads to “iOS 11” as soon as possible.  You can do the upgrade yourself at home.  Just go to “settings” then select the “software update for iOS 11” — and you’ll be done in minutes.  See Ms. Solomon — or ask one of your computer-savvy friends — with any questions.

  • Calling all actors, singers and dancers!   Auditions for the WMS Spring Musical — Beauty and the Beast, Jr. — will continue TODAY during ASP 1 and 2 in the auditorium.  In addition, there will be a sign-up for Backstage Crew — all those technical jobs “behind-the-scenes” that help bring the show to life.  See Mr. Brown with any questions or for more information.  Good luck, thespian wolves!!

  • Calling all Math Lovers! The “countdown” is on for Math Counts! Come to the Math Counts meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room WW 1. Students from all grades are welcome to come and have fun with numbers. This will be the last Math Counts of the year, so don’t miss out.  See Mr. Mencarini with any questions. You can “count” on it!

  • The WMS Earth Club will be holding a Bake Sale on FRIDAY after school — where you can get a sweet treat for just 2-bucks. All money raised will benefit the World Wildlife Fund — and its mission to protect endangered species. It’s good eats for a good cause at the Earth Club bake sale!

  • Who wants a free bicycle?  Thanks to a partnership between WMS and Phoenix Bikes, you can now build your own bike, learn to do all the maintenance and upkeep yourself, and you can keep it for FREE!!  Interested students are invited to an informational session next MONDAY during ASP 1 in room 124.  See Ms. Scruggs for more information — and get yourself a new bike!!

  • Batter up!  The Yorktown High School Softball Team is inviting 8th grade girls to try out for its upcoming spring season.  Tryouts are scheduled to begin on Monday, February 19th — which is a school holiday — from 11:45 to 2:30 on the YHS softball and turf fields. Interested student-athletes should sign-up on the Activity Board by the cafeteria, or see Ms. Sutphin for more information.
