  • The final “refocus assembly” will be presented to the 7th grade Wizards team this morning during 1st period in the auditorium. All Wizards should report to their 1st period classes for attendance, and then proceed to the assembly with your 1st period teacher.  This is a chance to go over some basic rules and expectations for the new year.  So let’s all make a “resolution” to be our very best — and BE A PART OF THE PRIDE!!
    .
  • It’s all about “trial and error.”  The WMS Science Fair is gearing up for its big competition on SATURDAY, January 6th.  There will be an open house for students, parents and community members from 8 to 8:30 a.m. — where you can see all of the incredible science projects for yourself.  And then the doors will close at 8:45 for judging, which runs until noon.  So come on out, support your friends, and celebrate science!!
    .
  • And speaking of the Science Fair — there will be a MANDATORY meeting for all 7th grade Science Fair participants TODAY in room 111 during lunch.  You’ll be receiving important instructions about the event — and a little pep-talk to get you to the finish line.  See Ms. Zarro  or Ms. Araya with any questions.
    .
  • The Model UN Club has a busy 2018 in store.  There will be an important meeting on THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 202 — as the MUNners start preparations for the upcoming the Gar-field Conference. There are still a few spots available — so see Ms. Carlson TODAY if you haven’t signed up, but still want to go!
    .
  • The Kindness Club has a pair of meetings scheduled for this month — on January 9th and 23rd. All are welcome to participate — new members and old — as they brainstorm ideas for the new year. See Ms. Schaefer with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all artists, musicians, and technology-lovers!  If you’re looking for something to do after school next semester, the Williamsburg after school program — aka ACT 2 — could be for you!  Watch for more information on the announcements coming soon!
    .
  • And now for a technology tip from Ms. Solomon:  Beginning this week, Williamsburg — along with every school in APS — is transitioning to the CANVAS Learning Management system.  Students and staff are encouraged to explore the Canvas Tutorial on the WMS website, or in the “WMS Canvas Course for Students.”  The tutorial contains numerous helpful videos, and even sample quizzes to mark your progress.   See Ms. Solomon with any questions.
