  • We begin today with WOLF PACK PRIDE!  The WMS Geo Bee was last Friday afternoon — and it was a match for the ages!  Twenty-four competitors from grades 6, 7, and 8 put their geography genius to the test, and battled it out for nearly TWO HOURS.  But in the end, there could be only one.  Congratulations to this year’s Geo Bee Champion: 8th grader Matthew B!  Congratulations, Matthew, and to ALL of this year’s competitors for a great match.  Way to go, Geo wolves!! [clap]  But Matthew isn’t done yet.  He now has to prepare for an even more intense contest:  the 2018 Arlington County Geo Bee — where he’ll be representing our school against some of the best minds in Northern Virginia.  Good luck, Matthew!!

  • Wolf Pack Pride continues with a trip to the Main Stage.  The WMS Theatre Arts Department completed a 2-day run of its Winter Production last week: Cheaper by the Dozen.  Both performances went great — and the crowd showed its appreciation with a standing ovation.  Congratulations to all of the cast and crew — and of course, to Mr. Brown.  Way to go, theater wolves!! [clap]

  • Prepare for the magic of music! There’s a new group at WMS — the Symphony Club — that combines band, orchestra, and chorus. The first meeting will be TODAY during ASP 1&2 in the band room, room 225.  To participate, just sign-up in any of the music classrooms or by the cafeteria.  See Ms Tuttle with any questions.
    .
  • The WMS Kindness Club will be meeting on TUESDAY during ASP 1 in room 134. All are welcome to participate — new members and old — as they brainstorm ideas for the new year. See Ms. Schaefer, Ms. Zeller, or Mr. Johnson with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all artists and technology-lovers! If you’re looking for something to do after school next semester, the Williamsburg after school program — ACT 2 — is the place for you!  There’s Mr. Dudek’s “Inventions — A Product is Born” class; and Mr. Skrzypek’s “Visual Arts” class.  Students in all grade levels are welcome to enroll.  Just sign-up on the activity board by the cafeteria.  See Ms. Hogwood or either of the Act 2 teachers for more information.
    .
  • The WMS Electronics Recycling Drive has been EXTENDED until this THURSDAY.  So bring in cell phones, lap tops, cameras, batteries, or any other electronics — and they’ll be safely wiped and recycled. Just drop them in the bins by the main entrance or cafeteria. After all: Recycling today will make the world a better place tomorrow.  See Ms. Mentch or a member of the Earth Club with any questions.
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a bus pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
