  • Happy New Year, Wolves!  As 2018 begins, it’s important that we’re all on the same page about expectations and rules here at WMS.  So this week, the administration will be hosting a series of “refocus assemblies” for all grade levels.  Here’s the schedule:  TODAY there will be assemblies for 8th graders during 1st period; for the 7th grade Caps, Mystics, and Nationals teams during 3rd period; and for the 6th grade during 5th period.  Then on THURSDAY there will be a final assembly for the 7th grade Wizards team during 1st period.  Let’s all make a “resolution” this year to be our very best — and BE A PART OF THE PRIDE!!
    .
  • And now for some WOLF PACK PRIDE — about our teachers!   A big CONGRATULATIONS goes out to 7th grade teachers Ms. Post and Ms. Blandford, both of whom just earned their National Board Certification for teaching.  It’s a HUGE accomplishment.  Way to go, teachers!! [clap]  And another KUDOS goes out to 8th grade counselor Mr. Tuttle — who has been selected as the WMS Teacher of the Year, and to Technology Coordinator Ms. Solomon and office staffer Ms. Argenal — who were named Co-Support Employees of the Year.  You guys are amazing!  Way to go, award winners!! [clap]
    .
  • Takedown, reversal, PIN!  Tryouts for the WMS wrestling team are set to begin TODAY in the auxiliary gym during ASP 1 and 2.  Wrestlers should be prepared to “throw down” right from the start — just be sure to have your physicals in.  See Coach Hicks with any questions.
    .
  • It’s all about “trial and error.”  The WMS Science Fair is gearing up for its big competition on SATURDAY, January 6th.  There will be an open house for students, parents and community members from 8 to 8:30 a.m. — where you can see all of the incredible science projects for yourself.  And then the doors will close at 8:45 for judging, which runs until noon.  So come on out, support your friends, and celebrate science!!
    .
  • And speaking of the Science Fair — there will be a MANDATORY meeting for all 7th grade Science Fair participants on WEDNESDAY in room 111 during lunch.  You’ll be receiving important instructions about the event — and a little pep-talk to get you to the finish line.  See Ms. Zarro  or Ms. Araya with any questions.
    .
  • The Kindness Club has a pair of meetings scheduled for this month — on January 9th and 23rd. All are welcome to participate — new members and old — as they brainstorm ideas for the new year. See Ms. Schaefer with any questions.
    .
  • Calling all artists, musicians, and technology-lovers!  If you’re looking for something to do after school next semester, the Williamsburg after school program — aka ACT 2 — could be for you!  Watch for more information on the announcements coming soon!
    .
  • The Model UN Club has a busy 2018 in store.  There will be an important meeting on THURSDAY during ASP 1 in room 202 — as the MUNners start preparations for the upcoming the Gar-field Conference. There are still a few spots available — so see Ms. Carlson TODAY if you haven’t signed up, but still want to go!
    .
  • And now for a “Transportation Tip” about riding the bus. If you’re ever planning to take a bus that’s not your own — like if you’re going to a friend’s house after school — you MUST bring a note from home to the main office NO LATER than your grade level lunch. Again, do NOT wait until the end of the day to get a buss pass — because there isn’t time and you’ll miss the bus! See Ms. Argenal in the office with any questions.
