  • Today we will be following the B-Day schedule. That means you’ll be attending periods 2, 4, 5, and 6 — so be sure to double-check that you’ve got the correct books and binders for class. Again, this is a B-Day. See your TA teacher with any questions.
    .
  • We begin today with a look ahead to the Holiday Weekend.  There’s no school next Monday — as our nation honors the memory and achievements of a true American Hero:  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
    .
MLK Day was established as a Federal holiday in 1983 — 15-years after King’s death.  It won bi-partisan support in Congress and was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan.  However, it wasn’t until the year 2000 that the holiday was observed in all 50 states.
    .
MLK’s legacy continues to influence the world we live in today — advancing for causes like equality, diversity, justice, and non-violent protest.  Happy MLK Day, Williamsburg — and keep fighting the good fight.
    .
  • And now it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE!!  It’s “Principal Appreciation Week” here at APS. And on behalf of all the students, teachers, and PTA here at Williamsburg, we’d like to take this opportunity to say “Thank You” to our amazing team of Principals: Mr. Boykin, Mr. K., and Ms. Osler.
    .
Let’s have a round of applause and show them how much we all appreciate their hard work. Way to go, Principal wolves!! [clap]
    .
And remember: if you see one of our principals in the hall today, be sure to stop and say “Thanks!”
    .
  • Wolves With Character -- CaringWOLF PACK PRIDE continues with our monthly Wolves with Character award! Just take a look at the screen to see all the deserving honorees from the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades — all of whom were chosen by their teachers for demonstrating outstanding CARING in their daily lives.
    .
Our school counselors will be distributing your award certificates today.  Congratulations, wolves with character! [clap]
    .
  • And now for some important information about HEALTH and SAFETY. Students and staff are reminded to PLEASE complete your online “qualtrics screening” every day before school.  And once inside the building, please wear your mask at all times, maintain social distancing, and wash your hands frequently. These measures are recommended by the CDC — and will help to keep our entire community safe.  Thanks for your help, wolves!!
    .
  • She shoots… she scores!! The Girls Basketball season is nearly here! Tryouts are scheduled for next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school in the main gym.  See Ms. Warden with any questions. Good luck, ballers!!
    .
  • Takedown, reversal, PIN!  WMS Wrestling “takes to the mat” starting next TUESDAY after school.  Please be aware that all wrestlers will be required to participate in the weekly COVID testing.  See Mr. Mencarini with any questions.
    .
  • And don’t forget — all student athletes MUST submit your “sports physical” to Ms. Hogwood by TODAY in order to participate in the upcoming season.  That goes for both WRESTLING and GIRLS BASKETBALL. See Ms. Hogwood with any questions.
    .
  • And finally — you throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.  What sport am I describing?
    .
    BASEBALL!
    .
Or could it be softball?  Student-reporter Walker H. “takes a swing” at explaining these two different — but very similar — national pastimes.
    .
    ROLL TAPE!!
