- We begin today with a pair of special guests to the WOLF-TV studio. Please welcome our school counselors: Mr. Tuttle and Ms. Boyers!
. - TUTTLE: Good morning, Wolves! It’s me, Mr. Tuttle.
.
BOYERS: And I’m Ms. Boyers. And we’re here with an important announcement from the Student Services Staff.
.
TUTTLE: With 2018 fast approaching, we are promoting a new, school-wide intention: “New Year – New Goals – New YOU!” On December 18th and 19th, our team will be distributing strips of paper to students in the cafeteria. You’ll write your NAME on one side, and on the other side a GOAL that you’d like to achieve in the coming year.
.
BOYERS: Then we’ll collect the strips of paper, and link them together into a chain that will be strung around the cafeteria. It will serve as a reminder of all we hope to accomplish in the future.
.
TUTTLE: So please, join us for this fun, school-wide activity next week, and…
.
BOTH: Be a part of the pride!!
. - Thanks, Mr. Tuttle and Ms. Boyers — that sounds great! And now, it’s time for WOLF PACK PRIDE! The WMS PTA has announced the results of this year’s “Reflections” Contest — recognizing the creative genius of our students.
.
This year’s theme was “Within Reach.” And the 1st place winners are:
–In Dance Choreography, Samantha O.
–In Literature, Christopher P.
–In Music Composition, Lindsay G.
–In Photography, Jenna P.
–and in Visual Arts, John T. Way to go, reflective wolves!! [clap]
The winners will now advance to Arlington County for the next round of judging. Good luck!
. - And it’s a big day for the WMS sports program. The girls basketball team will be hosting Kenmore Middle School TODAY in their final home game of the year. So come on down to the gym after school. Let’s pack the stands and root them on to victory. Go get ’em, baller wolves!! [clap]
. - The WMS Model UN Club will be meeting TODAY during ASP 1 in room 202. Participants are reminded to turn-in their Winter Conference forms. See Ms. Carlson with any questions.
. - Who wants pizza? The Model UN Club will be selling pizza on FRIDAY after school, both in the main lobby and by the cafeteria. It’s just 2-dollars for a slice and a cookie — and all money raised will go to support the Model UN and its upcoming conferences. Come hungry!
. - It’s better to GIVE than to RECEIVE! The Toy Drive sponsored by the Kindness Club is in full swing — and the grade level competition to see who will donate the most toys is underway. As of Tuesday, the 7th grade was winning, but some 6th graders dropped off a TON of toys yesterday putting them in the lead. Students and staff are encouraged to keep donating NEW and UNWRAPPED toys to those in need in Arlington County. Grade level bins are located in the library. Spread kindness where you may, and donate to the Toy Drive today!!
. - Hey, Williamsburg, what’s your favorite cereal? Whether it’s Raisin Bran, Lucky Charms, Cheerios, or anything else — that box of cereal can go a long way to helping the homeless in Arlington. Ms. Compton’s English Class is currently collecting cereal in support of A-SPAN — the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in a box or two and drop them in the “Big Blue Box” by the WMS main entrance. Cereal will be accepted between now and next TUESDAY. After all — breakfast is the most important meal of the day!!
. - Get on your WOLF-gear, everybody, because next week is SPIRIT WEEK at WMS!! Here’s the schedule of events: we start with Favorite Sports Team Day on Monday — then Hat Day on Tuesday — Tacky Sweater Day on Wednesday — and finally Pajama Day on Thursday. Just make sure it’s “school appropriate!” Join in the fun for Spirit Week at WMS — and Be a Part of the Pride!!
